Backup your data before Partitioning

Once you delete a partition using Stellar Partition Manager, data of the deleted partition is erased. Therefore, before deleting any partition, you must ensure that you back up your data present in the partition.

Additionally, you can use Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery software to recover data from your deleted partition.

You can delete a partition using Delete feature of Stellar Partition Manager to increase un-used space for re-arranging drive partitions or for some other usage. To delete a partition using Stellar Partition Manager, perform the steps given below:
  1. Run Stellar Partition Manager. Click Continue.
  2. In the left pane, select the Hard Drive that contains the partition, which you want to delete.
  3. In the middle pane, select the required partition.
  4. On the toolbar, click Delete.
  5. Application adds the task to delete the partition to the Task to do list along with other tasks (if any). Click Start to execute the listed tasks.
  6. Application displays a warning message. Click Continue.

Note: Before clicking Continue, ensure that you backup your data present in the selected partition.

After successful completion of the Delete operation, application removes the deleted partition from the list of partitions and adds the deleted space to free space of the hard disk.

Note: Please back up your data from the partition you want to delete because once you delete a partition, its data is erased beyond recovery.

Stellar Partition Manager can reveal a partition hidden using it only. It cannot reveal a partition hidden using some other application.
Only Stellar Partition Manager can reveal a partition hidden using it. Hidden partitions can be visible in other applications or utilities but you cannot perform any read-write operations on them.
You can hide a partition of your Mac in order to avoid access or tampering of data stored in that partition. You can use the Hide feature of Stellar Partition Manager to hide a partition. To hide a partition using Stellar Partition Manager, perform the steps give below:
  1. Run Stellar Partition Manager. Click Continue.
  2. In the left pane, select the Hard Drive that contains the partition, which you want to hide.
  3. In the middle pane, select the required partition.
  4. On the toolbar, click Hide.
  5. Application adds the task to hide the partition to the Task to do list along with other tasks (if any). Click Start to run the listed tasks.
  6. Application displays a warning message. Click Continue.

Note: Before clicking Continue, ensure that you backup your data present in the selected partition.

Note: The hidden partition will appear on the middle pane with an automatically generated disk identifier name. However, in some cases, the hidden partition will retain its original name. When you hide a partition, it is temporarily un-mounted.

You can reveal a hidden partition of your Mac by using the Reveal feature of Stellar Partition Manager application.
To reveal a partition hidden using Stellar Partition Manager, perform the steps give below:
  1. Run Stellar Partition Manager. Click Continue.
  2. In the left pane, select the Hard Drive that contains the hidden partition.
  3. In the middle pane, select the required partition.
  4. On the toolbar, click Reveal.
  5. Application adds the task to reveal the partition to the Task to do list along with other tasks (if any). Click Start to start the listed tasks.
  6. Application displays a warning message. Click Continue.

Once the application reveals the hidden partition, it will be again visible in the system.

Note: Only Stellar Partition Manager can reveal a partition hidden using it. Hidden partitions can be visible in other applications or utilities but cannot be selected for any read-write operations.

When you hide a volume/partition using Stellar Partition Manager, the partition will appear in the middle pane of the application with an automatically generated disk identifier name. However, in some cases, the hidden volume/partition may retain its original name. That is why, you are not able to see your Mac partition (named “MyData”) using Stellar Partition Manager.
People create drive partitions according to their personal requirements. If at any time the partition goes out of space, it needs to be resized to accommodate additional data. Extra space needed is taken from unused or free space available in the drive. Stellar Partition Manager provides you with the option to resize your Mac partitions.

To resize a partition using Stellar Partition Manager, follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Run Stellar Partition Manager. Click Continue.
  2. In the left pane, select the Hard Drive that contains the partition you want to resize.
  3. In the middle pane, select the required partition.
  4. Click on partition edge. While keeping the mouse pressed, drag the partition edge either upwards or downwards to resize your partition. You can view the new size in the partition area.
  5. Application adds the task to trim or expand (according to the case) the "partition" to the Task to do list along with other tasks (if any). Click Start to execute the listed tasks.
  6. Application displays a warning message. Click Continue.

Note: Before clicking Continue, ensure that you backup your data present in the selected drive.

Note: If partition size is increased, the added amount of space is subtracted from the available free space. If partition size is decreased, the subtracted amount of space is added to the available free space.

You are unable to increase the size of your partition because either there is no free space left on the hard drive or the partition has bad sectors present in it. You need to check the partition for bad sectors. It is also possible that your partition has some errors in it.
